The purpose of Flanyak Scientific, llc is to solve client problems, and to advance project opportunities rapidly.

After specializing in confectionery and food development / manufacturing for years, Dr. Flanyak founded this firm in 2011.

Our laboratory can assist your sample needs, provide product development assistance, or embark into specialized research with new formulations, processes, concepts and ideas.

Core competencies of Flanyak Scientific include product and process development, commercialization of products, food regulatory, food safety, allergens, nutritional labeling, contract manufacturing, packaging and quality sytems, technical training programs, expert witness / litigation, competitive analysis, cost reduction, and prior art search.

Meet Dr. Flanyak

Dr. John Flanyak is the President of Flanyak Scientific.

He has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and over 45 years of well versed experience in the food industry with companies including Farleys and Sathers Confections, Goelitz Confections (Jelly Belly Co), Brach & Brock Confections, Barry Callebaut, Jacobs Suchard, EJ Brach & Sons, Miles Laboratories, Quaker Oats, B. Wolnak & Associates & Flanyak Scientific.

He has held a number of responsible industrial positions including President, Vice President of Manufacturing, Vice President of Quality, Research & Process Improvement, Sr. Director of R&D, Director of Technical Services, Superintendent of Manufacturing, Plant Manager, Night Superintendent, R&D Manager, Group Leader, Sr. Scientist & Consultant.

He retired from a successful corporate career in 2011 and established Flanyak Scientific.

He is a Certified Food Scientist, as recognized by the Institute of Food Technology.

Over the span of his industrial career, he and his teams have introduced hundreds of new products for branded, seasonal and private label, implemented significant cost reductions (formulation, process and packaging) and quality programs, outsourced, insourced and cosourced numerous products and processes, developed in house educational training programs for marketing, sales, operations, quality, R&D, and senior management.

Dr. Flanyak is a people oriented "hands on" technical leader with excellent communication skills.

He has three patents and many published technical articles.

On a personal note, Dr. Flanyak is a family man, has 2 children, 9 super grandchildren and has been married to his wonderful wife for over 50 years (Happy Anniversary).
